NEW MEMBERS!!!!! We are always interested in welcoming new juniors into the BJGA. Inexperienced boys and girls first joining the BJGA are enrolled in the ‘Novice Program’, with instruction by local golf professionals. Juniors normally participate in this group before being eligible for selection to the Intermediate or Tournament Players ("TP") divisions. Novices have one hour of instruction each Saturday with focus on ball striking. Intermediate division includes rules and course etiquette with rounds of golf at Ocean View and Fairmont Princess. TP division members play a full round every Saturday at all of the island's courses. Starter club sets are available at a nominal rental fee for juniors who need them. Entry forms and info provided in the links below. Minimum age is 8 years old unless approved by the National Coach. Please email info@juniorgolf.bm if you have questions about becoming a member.

Weekly procedures and expectations:
It is the player's responsibility to signup each week for play using the website (TOURNAMENT ENTRY) or email info@juniorgolf.bm. Deadline for signup is posted on the SCHEDULE page.
Tee times will be posted on the website (TEE TIMES) by Thursday evening and in the Royal Gazette on Friday morning. The name and telephone number of the starter and official for the week will also appear on the website.
Players should be at the course 30 minutes prior to their tee time. If you are unable to play on Saturday after being assigned a tee time, please contact the starter or official for the day. Any "no-shows" will be subject to terms as explained in the Code of Conduct and Penalty System documents.
Dress code - proper golf attire must be worn as defined in the Code of Conduct (see above link). Shirts are to tucked in and cargo pants are not allowed (defined as those with pockets sewn on the outside).
Handicaps, Groupings, and Tee Assignments:
Groups for the 2011-2012 are as follows:
Tee Group Handicap Guideline Group 1 - Blue tees <12 Group 2 - White tees <20 Group 3 - Red tees >20 or none
Official scorecards are kept each week by players and submitted for handicap purposes. In the interest of speedy play, a 10 stroke hole maximum is in effect during normal Saturday play. Major tournaments and Monthly medal tournaments have no "maximums" per hole, every hole must be played out and the score recorded. Where players are uncertain as to a ruling, 2 balls should be played out and the correct ruling obtained from an official at the end of the round.
Handicaps are updated monthly
and published on the website (HANDICAPS).If during the season, a player attains the next handicap level or age bracket and is eligible to move groups, this will usually take place in January or April. The groupings and movement between groups is ultimately at the discretion of the BJGA Operations Committee.
Tournament and Matchplay
A Monthly Medal Round will be held each month
from September to June. Players accumulate points as follows within their
groups for gross scores.
A maximum of eight (7) monthly medal rounds will be counted to allow
for missed play due to school or other activities.
| 1st place | 10 points |
| 2nd place | 8 points |
| 3rd place | 6 points |
| 4th place | 4 points |
| 5th place | 2 points |
At the end of the season, prizes are awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gross winners.
Match Play and other formats
During the season, certain weeks will be deemed match play, team 2 or 4-ball, Ryder cup, or other special formats. It is the Board's intention to prepare the junior golfer for these popular styles of play in international and club amateur events, as well as provide a different competitive challenge for the juniors.
Major Tournaments
BJGA major tournaments are held 4 times each year. Dates will be posted on the (SCHEDULE) page when confirmed.
